Meet the Augustinians

One Mind … One Heart … On the Way to God

"The main purpose for you having come together is to live harmoniously in your house, intent upon God in oneness of mind and heart."

- Saint Augustine (The Rule, I, 3)

The Order of Saint Augustine

The Order of Saint Augustine, commonly known as the Augustinians, is an international order of the Roman Catholic Church.  Our Order includes over 2,800 Augustinian Friars located in over 40 countries on every continent of the world.

The Order was founded in 1256, though its Rule and spiritual foundations go back to Saint Augustine (354-430 AD).

Our charism is community, joining together and with others to be of “one mind and one heart on the way to God.”

Our Way of Life

Augustinians are often described as “Active-Contemplatives” as the Augustinian Way of Life is a balance between active ministry and prayer/contemplation.

Our Ministries

Our mendicant tradition calls Augustinians to go where the Church is in need of our charism, spirituality, and gifts.  We serve around the world in various ministries including parishes, schools, hospitals, and prisons to name a few.
