Let us pray to the Lord of the harvest, who calls men and women to loving service
(pause for a moment of silent prayer)
All glory and praise are yours, God of truth, light of our hearts, for you guide your people in ways of holiness. Help those who follow in the footsteps of Augustine to seek you though mutual love and worship and to be servants of your Church as examples that others may follow. Enlighten men and women to see the beauty of the common life in the spirit of Saint Augustine and strengthen them in your service, so that the work you have begun in them may be brought to fulfillment. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
The Augustinians pray this prayer every evening as part of Evening Prayer as we thank God for calling us to the Augustinian way of life and pray not only for God to guide us in our respective vocations, but also to aid those who feel called to our way of life. This includes not just Augustinian Friars, but also other communities who follow the Rule of Augustine, including a number of both female and male religious communities. Equally important, this prayer also includes the laity who pray with us, dialogue with us, and partner with us in a number of ways in the spirit of St. Augustine. This includes our Lay Augustinians, Augustinian Volunteers, and those who are members of our various parishes and ministries.
